Learning To Stitch Basic Embroidery Stitches

When you are in the process of creating a sampler for embroidery, you will need to learn some basic embroidery stitches. If you will be instructing a class of beginning students, it is best for you to get their attention and to calm them by using bright colors that will bring a distinctly new look at it. it is a challenge for you to make sure that they know that they can accomplish the task and that it will not happen if you do not try.

The ones learning are in the beginning stages, threads of DMC are the well known brand that is used for stitching basic embroidery. These threads are inexpensive and the single threads are thick so it is quite easy to break apart by using your hands. The fabric will be best if it is a basket weave. this will make it appear to be a jersey material. This fabric is good because of the small holes that can be used for a guide for the beginner to go with. by using this, the lines stitched for the hem will be straighter.

There are five easy embroidery stitches that are started with. These stitches are known as the cross stitch, the back stitch, the 3/4 stitch, and the half stitch. the back stitch is used to create lines that go around something. The first step in completing this stitch is to find the center of the fabric and mark it. Place the fabric inside of the hoop and put it to the side. Seperate the DMC thread into six seperate threads that are about a foot to fourteen inches long. Do not put the two threads together. Insert them into the end of the needle and tie a knot to make sure that it is tight. Starting from the edge of the hoop, count out two squares from themiddle point and insert the needle into the fabric from back to front. Pull the needle and thread over to the next hole and repeat the process.

the 3/4 stitch is accomplished by putting the half and quarter together. Start by making a square that is made up of the four boxes that are near each other. Sew the quarters by starting the needle in the lower left part of the square. Going from the back to the front and covering the middle with the yarn in a slanted angle is the way to go next. When you start the hemming of the half you will need to bring the needle to the lower right side of the square. Go from back to front and cover the whole piece with the yarn in a slanted angle. Continue with both of these steps until you are finished.
